Sunrise on the Lake

Yesterday morning, I stumbled out of bed and sleepily made my way into the kitchen, on the hunt for some caffeine or chocolate or whatever I could forage first.

I was shuffling along, half awake, when suddenly, I stopped in my tracks.

Looking out the windows and out to the lake, the sunrise was coming up over the water, and this is what I saw:

My first response was, "Holy cow, that's beautiful!"

My second response was, "Crap." I wanted to take a photo so I could share this wondrous sight, but my camera was in my purse, which is in my car, which is in the cold, cold garage.

So, I went to the garage - barefoot - and then went out on my back deck - in my NIGHTGOWN and still barefoot - in the 40-degree temperatures, so I could take these photos.

Geesh...the things I do in the interest of this blog.

Peace.

Early Morning Paradise

A Wonderful Wednesday As Told in Pictures....

This morning, I woke up, and quickly realized it was truly a day meant for paradise...the skies are as blue as can be, the sun is shining, and the lake...well, the lake is stunning....

Out on the dock, my kayak tempted me, as it ALSO knew it was a paradise-filled day - perfect for smooth gliding on a calm, still lake....

So, who was I to deny my kayak this wonderful opportunity of communing with nature....?

...as my hands moved the kayak along....

...even the paddle was happy! (doesn't lit look like it's smiling??!)

...and as I approach my own dock...

I, once again, am humbled by how beautiful this world really is...and I am so thankful to be a part of it.

Wordless Wednesday: Spring in My Backyard

Spring has come to Kansas City...and what a glorious spring it is...I couldn't help but take some photos of the trees and lake in my backyard to share:

Yes, it's days like these that make me glad to be alive and so appreciate of God's beauty around us on this earth. It makes up for all of the cold, bitter, snowy days of last winter...and it leaves me feeling energized for the days to come.

Peace.

"Almost"** Wordless Wednesday: Sunset in Jamaica

Winter came a bit early to Kansas City this year – we’ve already had our first snowfall, and we’ve had grey, drizzly skies since Sunday….I so miss the sun. Bleh - this weather sucks.

So – I thought I would “warm” things up today with a Wordless Wednesday photo. This is a photo taken in Jamaica in January 2009; I was there for a medical mission in Falmouth. We worked hard – trust me – but we did take a day and go to Doctor Cove’s Beach near Montego Bay – and this is where I captured this sunset.

If I don't see the real sun in the next 24 hours, I'm going to pull someone's hair out. (Not mine - I'm too vain. Maybe hubby's hair. He has plenty to spare. I could try the cat's hair but that would be painful. To me.)

Peace.

**Title changed to make Jenny happy.

Wordless Wednesday: Temptation

My cat, Romeo...the intent look on his face, as he stares at that Christmas ornament on the tree...cracks me up. Is this temptation, or what??!! And do you think he was able to resist temptation? Not a chance. He was getting scolded the next minute after he took a swipe at that ball. Sigh...he'll never learn.

Peace.
