The Power of Television

Don’t ever tell me that television is bad for you. I would beg to differ.

Why, just this week, I’ve been inspired on so many levels.

“Top Chef” has inspired me to sign up for cooking lessons - appreciating the fact that Julia Child was in her 40’s when she learned to cook.

I remind my children of that fact whenever they tease me about going to Culinary School at my age.

“The Biggest Loser” always inspires me to hop on my treadmill and run. And run. And run some more.

And “Hoarders” inspires me to clean my house. And clean. And clean some more.

Yesterday was a red-letter day for me. I began the morning by perusing some cookbooks in the house – and chose a recipe for homemade macaroni & cheese.

It was easy to whip up and put in the crockpot for the rest of the day – where it permeated the house with the most tantalizing smells the entire afternoon….

I love cheese.

Speaking of afternoon, I then began organizing and cleaning my kitchen. No drawer or cupboard was left untouched. ALL of them were emptied, vacuumed out, wiped down, and then re-organized.

Clutter was removed and put either in the trash can or the Donation box…except when I’d find something that had been lost for the past year, which would generate an excited squeal of "Eureka! HERE it is!" from Yours Truly.

I love finding lost stuff.

After a delicious dinner of homemade macaroni & cheese (did I mention that I cooked it? All by myself? I did? I had to remind my family of this fact only about 17 times….), with some smoked brisket that I bought at a local deli, it was then time to let “The Biggest Losers” inspire me.

Not hard to do after eating all of that cheese.

Ugh. This is the one I dread. I try to exercise 90 minutes every day. 15 minutes on the treadmill; 15 minutes on the weights; and an hour psyching myself up for it. Ha.

So I exercised. And I cooked. And I cleaned.

I love television.

Peace.

Hoarders made my sister clean like crazy the other day. It makes me not be able to sleep. :) I love HGTV and all the design shows. I make notes for future ideas. XOXO

I love hearing about your day. Today's sounds a bit like mine yesterday.

*stands up* Hi. My name is L A, and I'm a Biggest Loser addict.

It will be interesting to see if the new trainers can hold their weight (pardon the expression) now that this is Jillian's last season.

Gwen - I'm an HGTV addict, as well...my personal favorites are House Hunters and House Hunters International. They're like house porn! :)

Lu: Thanks for stopping by and reading about my day. It was crazy busy!

LA: WHY are they still shrouding the new trainers in such secrecy??!! I don't get it....I'm going to miss Jillian yelling in their faces after this season. Curious to see how the 500+ lb guy does.

They didn't have the drama of who will make it onto the show (like last season when they had them do step challenges or races) so now they've trumped up the drama around these trainers. I have a feeling they're going to be "shrouded" for the full four weeks.

I, too, think the 500+ pound person is going to be interesting to watch. I find his build rather disturbing. It's amazing he can move at all.

I am part of a group that discusses BL a day or two after the show via email. If you want in, let me know.

Oh and I LOVED Bob talking about Jillian claiming she's not going to yell "It's like telling the grass not to grow... the lion not to roar..." HA!

During the recent Tx snowstorm, I think I watched almost every On Demand movie offered, along with anything on every given channel....it's glorious being a ShutIn with TV!

[awful, but true]
