Saturday Ramblings

Okay, if I had been smart – I would have posted these yesterday and called them “Friday Fragments.” But sue me – I was sick yesterday. I don’t have enough stuff to blog a whole post today – so here’s random bits and pieces floating through my brain right now. Which - is on drugs (sinus drugs) - so I guess I'm the poster child for all of those commercials, "This is your brain on drugs." Scary.

Am I the only person in America who doesn’t give a hoot about Tiger Woods? Enough, already. Frankly – I don’t care. Move on.

Call me weird, but I’m sad that Diane Sawyer AND Chris Cuomo are both leaving Good Morning, America. I like that show. I know – they’re both going to be on ABC in their new roles – but it just won’t be the same.

I am pleased to report that since last Friday – when I first started – I am now 95% done with my Christmas shopping. No small task – I have 7 kids; 8 grandkids; parents; brother/sister-in-law; 2 nieces; 1 nephew; 1 mother-in-law; 1 brother-in-law/wife; 1 sister-in-law/wife; spouse; and teacher to buy for. I'm probably leaving someone off - oh, well. Sorry.

Hubby’s birthday is Christmas Day. That sucks. That means I have to buy just that much more. And there’s just that much more pressure to get it all done by Dec. 25th. And I have to wrap it in BIRTHDAY wrapping paper - and not Christmas paper - so that he knows its a BIRTHDAY present.

I am making progress on unpacking in the new house. My daily goal is either 2 boxes unpacked or 2 hours of unpacking – whichever comes first. I like breaking it down in increments like that – makes it seem easier to tackle.

We have a whole slew of Canadian geese on the lake right now. I often find myself just staring at them, as they slowly glide by in small “battalions” – it’s actually fascinating. Weird? Perhaps. But fascinating, all the same. They sure do make a heck of a lot of noise, though, when they start honking.

Our “shag” carpet in the house is new – and therefore still sheds little tiny carpet fibers. I call them “worms” – they drive me nuts. I shriek when I find a “carpet worm” – ugh. I keep vacuuming and vacuuming – hoping they will disappear. I think there are fewer of them. I hope. I hate carpet worms.

Yesterday, as usual, I stepped on the scale - and about fainted. I was very close to going up into the next "tens" - not good. I fretted all day. Today - I stepped on the scale and I was 9 pounds lighter. WTH? Seriously - I did NOT lose 9 pounds in one day. I think this tells me it's time for a new scale. But - I do like the new number today much, much more. I'm SURE it's the correct weight.

My son is home from college next week. I am excited – and will be – for about the first week – and then he will drive me insane because of his weird “college” habits and schedule. I’ll be counting the days until he’s back in school.

I love the lights on houses right now. We have green net lights on our bushes and white lights on the cabin…and two lighted deer in the front yard. I don’t like multi-colored lights, though. I like solid colors – all red, all white, all green, all blue. I’m just funny like that.

Tonight, we're headed to go see "It's A Wonderful Life" at the theater. Last week, I was given a wonderful gift - an autographed Christmas ornament of a scene from "It's A Wonderful Life." It was autographed by "ZuZu" - the little girl in the movie who says, "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings." The actress, Karolyn Grimes, is from the Missouri area- and her fan club president lives here on the lake. Does this post have a point? Not really...just rambling....

I hope everyone has an awesome Saturday - whatever it is you're doing today - whether it's shopping, entertaining, baking, caroling, cleaning, eating - make it a good one.

Peace.

That reminds me, I haven't yet watched "It's A Wonderful Life" yet this year.

My SIL's SIL (if that makes sense lol) was born on Christmas, and so was her daughter. I'd go crazy!

Wow - I just saw what I posted - I posted "sister-in-law/wife" - uh, no. That would be "sister-in-law/husband." Too funny - that's the drugs, there.

AJ - when you watch George Bailey this year, let me know - does Harry Bailey come home from college with a wife? I don't remember that - and yet it was in the play tonight. Did I miss that in the move???! Just curious.
