The Geek Takes on the Mouse

I have always been somewhat....ahem...anal...or super-organized...or a little OCD....however you want to word it, I am the Queen of Organization. I like things planned...orderly...and scheduled. And I like it planned, ordered and scheduled on my laptop. Especially with an Excel spreadsheet.

I also like Disney World. And we have Spring Break beginning tomorrow.

So, when you take my OCD - and love of Excel - and mix it up with Disney World, you get the following:

This is our itinerary for the week...doesn't it look pretty? So colorful...organized...scheduled....just the way I like it!

This is our dining plan...I have all of our reservations perfectly organized, including suggestions for each restaurant...

And last, but not least...this is just ONE of the daily itineraries I have...in this case, this is one of the days we're spending at Magic Kingdom...I know where we're supposed to be, when we're supposed to be there, down to the minute...I have one of these for every day that we're at the parks....

Now - laugh if you want, but we have gone to Disney World several times, and these plans work like clockwork! It has allowed us to really get the most out of our trips - we spend very little time in lines, and are able to ride our favorite rides over and over. I've been known to do plans like these for family and friends - who come home, raving about them! All I do now is print them off, fold them up, and each day, take the one needed in my pocket to the park. And voila!

I am such a geek. I really need to get a life.

Sigh.

You are waaaay organized! No, you are a professional. Next to you, I am scatter brained. Have fun, and lots of it.

Okay, you win the OCD award. ;) My plans are not that detailed. That may have something to do with my four year old, I'm not sure. ;)

I hope y'all have a fabulous time!

Oh I wish I could use spreadsheets. I do like to write detailed agendas but I prefer to do it by hand. I know, weird. We're considering going to DW again for Thanksgiving this year. We're probably going to Florida, but the last time we went, we did DW and didn't get to do much else, and I kind of want to go to St. Augustine this year instead.

Yes you are a woman after my own heart also!! I love spreadsheets and organizing everyone. Planning a spring trip to England and Scotland and will end up with a spreadsheet like this as well.

Damn. You could have organized the landing of troops on Normandy and nobody would have been hurt. Can I go with you? I usually have to organize things and sometimes I want someone to do all the thinking and planning. Not that I come close to your plans. Mine are done in crayons.

Wow...I am on the complete opposite end of the organizational spectrum. I can't even begin to figure out how I would attempt something like this. This has inspired me to take a closer look at our summer vacation to Quebec city. Thanks for blogging!

You are the woman I long to be. I love your organizational skills! You should teach a class...I would definitely drive to KC for that type of lesson!

Holy cow girl. I am totally lucky to even find my car keys at the start of the trip.

My daughter would be in awe over this chart.

I think she might be adopted.

Definitely didn't get those genes from me.

I happen to be one of those friends who Sherry has shared her offered assistance to. We took our first Disney trip last month and my family thought I was neurotic the first day I used the schedules. By the end of the week I was the queen of the trip because they got to run past the lines and re-ride their favorits, after we had conquered all our rides in order of priorities. I have only one regret from trip, I didn't have an iPhone to get the line wait times while waiting in a different line. Thanks Sherri (this is Juli)!
