Cinco de Mayo

Feliz Cinco de Mayo, mis amigos!

I went to lunch today with a girlfriend, and in honor of the occasion, we went to a popular Mexican restaurant. I am practically a member of the staff at this restaurant, as I eat here at least once - if not more - each week. The waiters are all great guys, and they let me practice my Spanish while conversing with them.

The girlfriend I dined with today is of Hispanic descent....she has long, dark hair and very exotic looks. As far as me and my appearance, well heck - I'm a blonde, blue-eyed Swedish girl with a bit of German thrown in the mix. Oh, my great-great grandmother was a Cherokee Indian. Put it all together, and I'm a pedigreed mutt.

So, imagine the waiter's confusion when I spoke Spanish and my friend spoke nary a word. He's say something to her in Spanish, and she'd say, "Huh?"

Which just goes to show we shouldn't make assumptions based on appearances, as they can be deceiving...and I hope the people of Arizona recognize this fact.

I'm now stepping down off my soapbox.

Peace.

Happy to meet you!

I'm not the only mexican restaurant out-of-control patron? I find it hard to go eat anywhere else...

Glad you celebrated Cinco! Any excuse to have a margarita is welcomed here. Cheers!
